Music shows make up the heart of The Egg’s season, and often for Stephanie, they’re the shows that are the most fun. What her job entails depends greatly on the show. For smaller shows, such as The Doors, Guster, The Priests, Ingrid Michaelson, Hot Tuna, Josh Ritter, Cowboy Junkies, Zappa Plays Zappa, Béla Fleck, John Hiatt, Stephen Stills, and Toad the Wet Sprocket, Stephanie acts as Lighting Designer, lighting each show with as much or as little production as is appropriate. Sometimes that means matching the mood of each song with a cozy, intimate coffee shop look, and sometimes that means flash ‘n’ trashing her ass off. And for larger shows, such as They Might Be Giants, Shinedown, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Darkstar Orchestra, The Disco Biscuits, Mike Gordan, Lindsey Buckingham, Lyle Lovett, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, and Sully Erna’s Avalon, it is Stephanie’s job to work with the Road Co LD to ensure that they are able to realize their vision while staying within the constrains of equipment, time, and labor.
