For this production I constructed the steel skeleton for a 12′ tall by 16′ wide tree. The tree broke into four sections, 2 limbs, trunk, and base. The base was a 8′x14′ trussed ellipse. It had casters that were actuated by pneumatic cylinders, giving the tree 1″ of lift. This allowed the tree to sit solidly on the deck when it was climbed on. The entire piece was covered with plywood, foam was applied, and the tree was carved. After the carving, fiber optics was attached and the entire piece was coated in an epoxy.
