Technical Direction
As a Technical Director I am responsible for bringing a Scenic Designers drawings to life. To do this, I pull from my carpentry, welding, lighting, and technical design experience. With every show I work on I work on three principles: safety, integrity of the design, and staying within the budget. I work with the scenic designer and director to ensure that we have scenery that is not only safe for the performers but functions and appears as the designer and the director intends. I draw all of my productions in a CAD program in order to insure that every stick of lumber, bolt, and screw is accounted for before we get onto stage. This allows me to figure out issues before the scenery hits the stage or the shop floor.
